Notes on Longevity and Long Life from Anti Aging Books

There is so much happening every day in the fields of anti aging and aging research.  Some of the people who watch all the latest coming out try to relay what is going on to us lay people in books.  Anti aging books are just one way I get the information that I add to this site.

As I said in the About this website page, I have created this site in part as a place to keep together what I learn.  What better then but to add my notes from the anti aging books I read to the site as well.  I’ll use this page as a place to keep a list of and links to the articles I write for each book.

As I have already added several articles based upon notes from one anti aging book, I will start the list with that one and then update this page as I add things.

The Blue Zones1. The Blue Zones by Dan Buettner – This book is the compilation of Buettner’s interviews with people from around the world in what are called The Blue Zones.

Each area has a high percentage of people who have lived a long time, mostly centenarians.  Buettner tells the stories of his meetings with people in each zone and the things which he believes are responsible for the longevity.

He even finishes the book with a chapter on creating your own personal Blue Zone based on the lessons he learned.

Check out this article to begin the notes on the Blue Zones on this site.

2. The Immortality Edge by Dr. Michael Fossel, Greta Blackburn, and Dr. Dave Woynarowski -  The edge is the end of our chromosones.  Immortality might well lay there or so the authors of this book believe.  At least a long life could very well be within the DNA that lies at the edge.

What is it that lies on the edge?  Our telomeres.  Shortening of the telomeres appears to affect just about everything that goes wrong with our bodies and in return may be affected as well.

This book goes a bit into the history of telomere research and then covers the things you can do that the authors believe will at the very least slow down the shortening of telomeres. You can read my notes on how to realize the secrets of your telomeres.
